Aerospace Manufacturing

Solutions for Aerospace Manufacturing
Every partnership with Leica is influenced by one central idea: To supply our customers with unique, high-quality, cost-reducing and profitability-enhancing solutions in all areas of aerospace manufacturing.
Eurocopter, FEMI
Eurocopter, the world's leading helicopter manufacturer, has improved production line efficiency by up to 70% in just a few years - thanks to two new state-of-the-art Laser Tracker measurement systems from Leica Geosystems. mer info
Eurocopter
(Reporter 50, April 2004) Laser Trackers are commonly used primarily in the automobile and aerospace industries and are gaining increasingly greater popularity due to their flexibility and high measuring precision. Eurocopter, the world's leading helicopter manufacturer, has improved production line efficiency by up to 70% in just a few years - thanks to two new state-of-the-art Laser Tracker measurement systems from Leica Geosystems. mer info
Bombardier Aerospace
With more than 58000 employees in five continents and revenues of more than 16 billions CA$, Bombardier is a major international company. Although their extensive product line includes snowmobiles, speedboats and fast-train transit systems Bombardier is best known for their aerospace division. mer info
Daimler-Benz Aerospace
Stade project team of Daimler-Benz Aerospace uses new measuring system with a wide spectrum of potential applications. mer info
Brookhouse Holdings
Brookhouse Holdings, of Darwen, is the largest independent composites manufacturing and assembly organisation in the UK. It specialises in the manufacture and repair of aerospace components, in both composite materials and metal, and in the fabrication and assembly of aircraft ground support equipment, jigs and tools. mer info
Boeing
Boeing Aircraft, St. Louis has been using theodolite coordinate measurement systems since the mid-1980s to replace optical transits and tooling bars and to reduce manufacturing application and inspection times. The theodolite system is an optical measurement system for operators to map and send data points to a PC for storage and later use. The system uses two to four theodolite heads and a central computer to triangulate the position of data points for better coverage of the work envelope. Data can be collected at a rate of five points per minute using experienced operators. mer info
Boeing Tooling Center
With current and future aircraft becoming more complex , the McDonnell Douglas Tooling Center has outfitted itself with the most accurate, cost-effective methods of measuring and building large three-dimensional objects. Utilizing coordinate measuring systems, the Smart310 Laser Tracker Systems build and inspect to ever narrowing tolerances. With systems that can record measurements at a rate of 500 coordinates per second, time- consuming tasks that would have been overwhelming in the past, are now done quickly, accurately and in a cost-effective manner. mer info
